I have a broad-based professional experience in the fields of education, media and culture. From 2012 I have promoted, researched and developed national media education in Finland. I´m interested in participatory policy development and finding research-based solutions for the challenges of education in the digital mediated world.

Education

Doctor of Philosophy (Education), 2021

I gratuated as PhD from the University of Lapland.

In my doctroral dissertation I explored Competence-based education (CBE) and transversal competence from a conceptual perspective. Based on the analyses I developed a theory of conceptual contextualisation.

In my studies I developed my expertise particularly in:

  • Transversal competence, competence-based education
  • Multiliteracy, literacy studies
  • Curricular contextualisation, international and national educational policy
  • Qualitative research and analysis
I publicly defended my academic dissertation with the permission of the Faculty of Education at the University of Lapland on 13 August 2021. The opponent was professor Jari Lavonen, University of Helsinki. The custos was professor Heli Ruokamo, University of Lapland.

Master of Arts (Education), 2014

I graduated as Master of Arts (Education) from the University of Lapland. In my master studies I focused on:

In my master’s thesis (In Finnish: Tieteenalat mediakasvatuksen kentällä) I explored the disciplinary background of media education, especially from the perspectives of interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity.
